What is Drum Corps

Drum & Bugle Corps is also known as Drum Corps. It is a musical marching unit (similar to a marching band) consisting of brass instruments, percussion instruments, and colour guard which is put together to perform a competitive show. Most units operate as independent non-profit organisations & perform in competitions, parades, & festivals. Participants of all ages are represented within the Drum and Bugle corps activity, but the majority are between the ages of 13 and 25. Younger members can join our cadet band from the age of 8.
We participate in summer circuits like Drum Corps United Kingdon (DCUK) and British Youth Band Association (BYBA). Corps prepare a new show each year, approximately 8–12 minutes in length, and carefully refine it throughout the summer. Shows are performed on football fields and are judged in various musical and visual categories, or "captions". Musical repertoires vary widely among corps and include symphonic, jazz, big band, contemporary, rock, wind band, vocal, Broadway, and Latin music, among other genres.
